    Philipp Lang, MD, MBA

    Chief Executive Officer, President, Chairman of the Board

    Dr. Lang founded ConforMIS in 2004 and has served as Chairman of the Board since its founding. He has been Chief Executive Officer since January 2008. Dr. Lang’s management experience includes positions as the Director of the Musculoskeletal Radiology and Distinguished Weissman Chair at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lang is also the founder of Imaging Therapeutics, Inc.. He has previously served as a Member on the Board of Directors of ViOptix, Inc. Dr. Lang has an extensive background in the medical device industry and has provided strategic leadership as an inventor of more than 80 patents, pending or issued, in the U.S. and abroad. He has an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an MD from Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg School of Medicine in Germany.

  • Paul Weiner

    Paul Weiner, CPA

    Chief Financial Officer

    Mr. Weiner is responsible for the finance, accounting and human resource functions at ConforMIS. In this role he manages the development and evaluation of short- and long-term financial objectives, drives the financial planning and analysis process, ensures internal controls are in place, ensures compliance with GAAP, and advises on financial implications of business activities. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Weiner spent 18 years at Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: PMTI), a global leader in research, development, manufacturing and worldwide sales of medical laser devices for aesthetic treatments. Mr. Weiner was a pivotal leader in growing Palomar into a major player within the aesthetic device market. He served many roles at Palomar, including Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for the past 12 years. Prior to Palomar, Mr. Weiner was the CFO at Hygienetics, an environmental consulting company, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Ernst & Young and Wolf & Company. Mr. Weiner has applied strategic insight and tactical direction in the areas of: accounting and finance, financial planning, corporate treasury and cash management, human resources, investor relations, business development and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Weiner earned a BA in Accounting from Bryant University.

    David Cerveny, JD

    Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property & General Counsel

    Mr. Cerveny is responsible for managing ConforMIS’ legal affairs as well as for developing and implementing ConforMIS’ intellectual property portfolio and strategy. Prior to joining ConforMIS, Mr. Cerveny was the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for Palomar Medical Technologies, where he managed a patent portfolio widely regarded as the strongest in that industry. He has a law degree from Boston College Law School, and was formerly an associate with Proskauer Rose and a partner at Hale & Dorr (now WilmerHale). In total, he has over ten years of experience in all aspects of intellectual property and medical devices. He has successfully represented clients in a host of domestic and international venues, and was twice named a Massachusetts SuperLawyers rising star. He successfully defended Palomar Medical in a patent infringement trial in the Eastern District of Texas, where a jury determined that there was no infringement and that the asserted patent claims were invalid. Prior to law school, Mr. Cerveny earned a degree in biomedical engineering at Marquette University, and worked for five years with McDonnell Douglas Corporation developing digital flight control systems for military aircraft.

    Adam Hayden, MS, MBA

    Vice President, Marketing

    Mr. Hayden leads product management, corporate communications, meetings & events and medical education for the organization. He provides over 15 years of leadership and medical device experience, including over 10 years in orthopaedics alone. Most recently, Mr. Hayden led product management at ConforMIS with responsibility for all launched products and products in development. Prior to joining ConforMIS, Mr. Hayden held various senior marketing positions at Smith & Nephew and J&J DePuy. In his last position, Mr. Hayden was Director of Marketing at Smith & Nephew and led the global biomaterials franchise. At J&J DePuy, Mr. Hayden began as a knee arthroplasty product development engineer, transitioned to marketing and held various marketing roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to his career in orthopedics, Mr. Hayden served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hayden has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA from the University of Colorado and an MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

    Rob Law

    Senior Vice President, Sales

    Mr. Law is responsible for all aspects of sales management, sales operations and the expansion of ConforMIS’ direct sales force and distributor network in the United States. Mr. Law has more than 25 years of medical device sales, distribution, marketing and business development experience. Most recently, Mr. Law held the role of Vice-President of Sales, US Western Region, for ConforMIS. He has served as a member of the sales management team since 2007. In this position, Mr. Law has helped launch every product that ConforMIS has commercialized, delivered regional sales growth of greater than 100% each year, and implemented a performance oriented sales culture. Before ConforMIS, Mr. Law was a partner in CORE Outpatient Services, a medical device distributor representing Wright Medical, Linvatec, Cryolife and Genzyme. Mr. Law began his medical device career at SportsWorld Orthopedics, where he held various senior executive roles including Vice-President of Sales. Mr. Law holds a BS in Kinesiology from Kansas State University.

    Rick Paxton

    Vice President, Sales, Eastern U.S. and Area Vice President, Southeast U.S.

    Mr. Paxton is responsible for all aspects of sales management for the Eastern United States regions. Mr. Paxton has more than 28 years of medical and medical device sales, distribution, marketing and business development experience. Most recently, Mr. Paxton held the role of ConforMIS Area Vice President of Sales, Southeast U.S. Region. He joined ConforMIS in April 2011 as a member of the Regional Sales Management team. In this position, Mr. Paxton helped launch the ConforMIS iTotal Knee system and has delivered industry-leading regional and area sales growth each year. Before ConforMIS, Mr. Paxton was a medical device distributor representing Johnson and Johnson Orthopaedics for 11 years. Mr. Paxton’s career includes sales and sales management positions at Procter & Gamble (Patient Care Division) and GlaxoSmithKline (General Pharma & Vaccine Division). Mr. Paxton holds a BSBA degree with a Business Law concentration from Western Carolina University.

    Matthew Scott

    Senior Vice President, Operations

    Mr. Scott leads the operations functions, including production management, manufacturing engineering, and the Computer Aided Design manufacturing groups. He brings more than 10 years of experience in the medical device industry to ConforMIS. Most recently, Mr. Scott was the Director of Operations at Zimmer Dental, where he led all operations functions, including global supply chain management, production management, manufacturing engineering, and the CAD manufacturing group. Prior to that, Matt was Director of Global Operations at Zimmer Holdings. In this capacity, Matt was responsible for a global production start-up and transfer team that helped further internationalize Zimmer’s orthopedic manufacturing footprint, including the initial management of Zimmer’s manufacturing facilities in Ireland. He also led teams that focused on managing inventory reduction and continuous improvement for Zimmer on a global scale. Mr. Scott began his career with General Electric as a member of Technical Leadership Program. Mr. Scott has a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University.

    Amita Shah, MS

    Senior Vice President, Regulatory and Quality Affairs

    Ms. Shah leads the quality assurance and regulatory affairs functions, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry to ConforMIS. Prior to joining ConforMIS, Ms. Shah served as Director of Quality Assurance at Confluent Surgical. In this role, she was instrumental in building the quality system, maintaining regulatory compliance and assisting in premarket submissions that led to the company’s successful launch of surgical sealants before it was acquired by Covidien. Ms. Shah also has over a decade of experience in cardiovascular devices with C.R. Bard, where she advanced through positions of increasing responsibility in the QA and RA functions. Ms. Shah has a BS in Biology and Chemistry and an MS in Organic Chemistry, as well as a Regulatory Affairs Certification.

    John Slamin

    Senior Vice President, Knee Implant Engineering

    Mr. Slamin is responsible for overseeing all product engineering and development for the ConforMIS line of knee implants. Prior to ConforMIS, Mr. Slamin spent more than 30 years in Research & Development at Johnson & Johnson’s Orthopaedic Division, now DePuy. He was responsible for the product development activities that led to the PFC Total Knee System in 1986 and the Sigma Total Knee System in 1996. He coordinated the design and development of the world’s first fully integrated and implantable electronic knee in collaboration with Clifford W. Colwell, MD of SCORE in LaJolla, California , and he is the recipient of the Johnson Medal for outstanding Research and Development achievements. Mr. Slamin is the holder of 7 patents related to knee implant engineering. Mr. Slamin is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston Massachusetts.

    Daniel Steines, MD, MS

    Senior Vice President, R&D

    Dr. Steines leads the software engineering teams at ConforMIS and is responsible for the development of image processing and implant design algorithms and applications. He has more than 10 years of experience in research and development of medical image analysis and computer graphics applications. In the past, he held research positions at Stanford University and the Charit in Berlin (Germany), working in the areas of new imaging techniques to assess osteoarthritis and articular cartilage as well as novel medical video applications. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Research & Development for Imaging Therapeutics, where he was responsible for the development of image analysis applications for diagnosis of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Dr. Steines has an MD from the Technical University of Aachen (Germany) and an MS in computer science from the Technical University of Berlin (Germany).
