    ConforMIS Maintains Commitment to Advancing Patient-Specific Solutions by Expanding Scientific Advisory Board

    New Additions Enhance World Class Expertise in Total and Partial Knee Systems

    Burlington, Mass. — February 23, 2009 – ConforMIS, Inc., a medical device company that develops and commercializes patient-specific solutions for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint damage, announced today the addition of three new members to the Scientific Advisory Board: Amar S. Ranawat, MD; Anil S. Ranawat, MD, and Brian McKeon, MD. The board is comprised of a group of internationally recognized orthopedic surgeons and scientists who facilitate the company’s ongoing efforts to develop and deliver patient-specific solutions. Most recently, ConforMIS announced the appointment of Dr. Richard Scott, an expert in partial and total knee replacement, to their Scientific Advisory Board.

    Amar S. Ranawat, MD is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and currently practices at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Ranawat earned his medical degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University and completed his fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction under the direction of his father Dr. Chitranjan S. Ranawat. Dr. Ranawat has received numerous academic and professional accolades, including the Chief Resident’s Special Award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Hip Society British Traveling Fellowship, and the James A. Rand Award. He is an active clinical orthopedic researcher with particular interests in alternative bearing surfaces for total hip replacement and innovative total knee designs.

    Anil S. Ranawat, MD is an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and currently practices at Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Ranawat earned his medical degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University, completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at HSS, a Sports Medicine Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a Joint Preservation Hip Fellowship at the Schulthess Klinic in Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Ranawat has received numerous awards including the T. Campbell Thompson Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery, the Jean C. McDaniel Resident Teaching Award at Hospital for Special Surgery, the Maurice Müller European Traveling Hip Fellowship and the AAOS Washington Health Policy Fellowship. His clinical and research interests are focused on joint-preservation surgery of the knee and hip, with a deep interest in robotic surgery, partial knee replacement and mobile-bearing technology.

    Brian P. McKeon, M.D. is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at Tufts University School of Medicine and a Sports Medicine Fellowship Instructor at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA where he currently practices. In addition, Dr. McKeon is the Chief Medical Officer and Team Physician for the current World Champion Boston Celtics. Dr. McKeon earned his medical degree with honors from Georgetown University’s School of Medicine. Following his residency and internship training with the University of Connecticut’s Integrated Residency Program, he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at New England’s Baptist Hospital in Boston. He is currently participating in several clinical trials and funded research studies related to articular cartilage, sports injuries, and partial knee replacement.
