Carlos Alvarado, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement, minimally invasive approaches for hip arthroplasty, orthopedic trauma and general orthopedic surgery, complex fractures and musculoskeletal injuries, upper and lower extremity reconstruction and chronic post-traumatic orthopedic conditions. He is a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 160 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Alvarado received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a general surgical internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at New York University’s Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he received the Executive Chief Resident Award and the Ralph Luskin, M.D., Senior Resident Teaching Award. He continued his training with a total joint replacement/adult reconstruction fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Alvarado has volunteered on medical missions to Honduras, the Dominican Republic and Peru, and was the resident leader on mission trips to Haiti with Orthopedic Relief Services International. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has published research findings in medical journals and spoken at national orthopedic medical meetings. Dr. Alvarado is a member of the American Orthopaedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Forum.
