A native of San Diego, CA, Dr. Valletta completed his undergraduate work at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. While at Pepperdine, he completed research in the Department of Sports Medicine prior to graduating with honors with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sports Medicine. He received his doctoral degree in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa and subsequently completed an internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at St Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He then completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while concurrently performing research in sport-related shoulder and knee disorders.
Dr. Valletta travels internationally as a team physician for the United States Soccer Federation and serves as a team physician for local high schools and universities in the San Diego area. Dr. Valletta is the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine consultant to the Sporting Club and lectures regularly to the Personal Training staff on topics in the field of sports medicine and injury prevention.
