SURGEON STORY

Barry Waldman, MD

Dr. Barry Waldman currently practices at OrthoMaryland in Baltimore and serves as the Director of the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics. He is also a Clinical Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

“Patients see me two weeks, four weeks after the surgery and they often seem like they had the surgery six weeks, ten weeks ago because their motion is better and they’re recovering more quickly.”

Dr. Waldman received his medical doctorate from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. He completed a Surgical Arthritis Service Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

In addition to his practice and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Waldman has developed a minimally invasive hip replacement approach along with minimally invasive knee and hip replacement systems. He has published many papers on minimally invasive orthopaedic hip replacement, thromboembolic prophylaxis, knee and hip complications and orthopaedic implant design. Dr. Waldman is also a frequent guest speaker at national and international orthopaedic meetings and symposia. He currently serves as the President of the Medical Staff at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
