Patient Experience: Elaine Anderson
Patient Story

Elaine Anderson

Age: 70 Seattle, WA Surgeon: Paul Manner, MD

Between cheerleading, dancing, hiking, and bike riding, Elaine considered her life “wonderfully active” before a gym injury caused her knees to begin deteriorating. 10 years after her initial injury, her pain had gotten to the point that she could barely walk, and she began to gain weight. Her family realized that every move caused her pain, and stopped inviting her to activities.

When it came time to discuss knee replacement surgery, Elaine spoke with Dr. Manner about pain after knee replacement surgery and the advantages of a custom-made knee. Now that she’s had both knees replaced, she is (“fortunately… or unfortunately…”) back to doing 100% of the household chores, and she has been able to regain her active lifestyle.
