    ConforMIS Expands Scientific Advisory Board

    Dr. Richard D. Scott Brings World-Renowned Partial Knee Expertise to Board

    Burlington , Mass. – December 9, 2008 – ConforMIS, Inc., a medical device company that develops and commercializes patient-specific solutions for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint damages, announced today the addition of Richard D. Scott, MD to their Scientific Advisory Board. The board comprises a group of world-class orthopedic surgeons and scientists who facilitate the company’s ongoing efforts to develop and deliver patient-specific solutions to patients.

    Dr. Richard Scott is an internationally recognized expert in partial and total knee replacement.  He currently holds a Professorship in Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and is an orthopedist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the New England Baptist Hospital, both based in Boston, MA.  Most recently, Dr. Scott served as the Chief of Implant Services at both the Brigham and Women’s and the Baptist Hospitals and as Chief of the Joint Arthroplasty Fellowship Program at Brigham and Women’s.

    Over his career, Cr. Scott has made significant contributions to the understanding of disease process and operative techniques in arthritic conditions.  He has served as President of the Knee Society as well as on editorial boards for the Journal of Arthroplasty, the American Journal of Knee Surgery, Clinical Orthopedic and Related Research, and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.  He has also written extensively on arthritis and implant performance.

    Dr. Scott will join three other leading orthopedic surgeons on the Scientific Advisory Board, including Thomas S. Thornhill, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Tom Minas, M.D. M.S., Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Wolfgang Fitz. M.D., Associate Orthopedic Surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
