Mark Augusti

Chief Executive Officer & President

Mr. Augusti has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of our board of directors since November 2016. Prior to joining us, Mr. Augusti was Integra LifeSciences Corporation’s Corporate Vice President, and President of Orthopedics and Tissue Technologies. Mr. Augusti was responsible for the management of the Orthopedics and Tissue Technologies global division, which includes extremity implants, tissue products, and the Private Label business.

His responsibilities included U.S. commercial leadership, global portfolio management, evaluation of corporate development opportunities and overall strategic direction. He joined Integra in April 2014 as Corporate Vice President and President of Orthopedics and Tissue Technologies, and brings over 25 years of executive management experience in medical technology. Prior to joining Integra, Mr. Augusti served as Chief Executive Officer at Bioventus LLC, from May 2012 to August 2013, and was a member of the company’s Board of Directors during the same period. Prior to that Mr. Augusti spent nine years with Smith & Nephew, from April 2003 to April 2012, in a series of leadership roles, including President of Smith & Nephew’s Biologic Division, where he was appointed to lead Smith & Nephew’s new biologics initiative. He also served as Smith & Nephew’s President of the Orthopaedic Trauma & Clinical Therapies Global Business and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Trauma business. Prior to that, from 1987 to 2000, he spent 13 years at GE Medical Systems, where he held various sales, marketing and strategic management roles, both in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Augusti received his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and his B.S. in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University.

Bob Howe

Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Mr. Howe has served as our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer since February 2020. He is a senior finance professional with more than 20 years of progressive experience at public medical device companies in roles that encompass financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial reporting, and business strategy. Most recently, he spent nearly five years at NxStage Medical, Inc., as VP of Finance and Corporate Controller, responsible for corporate FP&A, external financial reporting, manufacturing finance, shared service functions, Tax, and Treasury. He also led all aspects of financial controls and external audit activities and drove operational improvements through shared service implementation and systems automation.

Immediately prior to this, Mr. Howe served at Lake Region Medical as VP, FP&A – Cardio & Vascular Division, where he progressed from Senior Director of FP&A for its Advanced Surgical Division. Before this, he served for 17 years at Boston Scientific where he held financial leadership roles in three of the company’s operating divisions as well as senior roles in manufacturing and corporate finance.

Mr. Howe earned an MBA degree at Boston University and a BS degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies at Babson College.

J. Brent Alldredge

Chief Legal Officer

Mr. Alldredge has served as our Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary since July 2019. Prior to joining us, Mr. Alldredge was the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Assistant Corporate Secretary of Orthofix Medical Inc., a diversified global medical device company, from August 2016 until July 2019. Before that, Mr. Alldredge served in various roles of increasing responsibility with Orthofix, including Interim General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Assistant Corporate Secretary. Before joining Orthofix in January 2011, Mr. Alldredge was an attorney at Baker & McKenzie LLP, a leading global law firm, and also served as briefing attorney and law clerk to the Chief Justice of Texas’ Sixth District Court of Appeals. Mr. Alldredge is a graduate of Brigham Young University and earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor of the SMU Law Review.

John Slamin

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Slamin has served as our Chief Technology Officer since March 2021. In this new role, he oversees knee engineering, software design, and software development. Mr. Slamin most recently served as our Senior Vice President, Product Engineering from 2007 through 2021, with responsibility for overseeing all product engineering and development of our knee implants. Before joining Conformis, Mr. Slamin spent more than 30 years in research and development at Johnson & Johnson’s Orthopaedic Division, now DePuy, where he was responsible for product development activities. Mr. Slamin is the holder of seven patents related to knee implant engineering. Mr. Slamin has an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts.

Terrance Wong

Senior Vice President, Hip and Private Label Engineering

Mr. Wong has served as our Senior Vice President, Hip and Private Label Engineering since March 2021. In this role, he oversees hip development at Conformis, along with the private label contract business that was created in October 2019 with the execution of our strategic deal with Stryker, relating to our patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) technology for use with Stryker’s Triathlon total knee system. Mr. Wong has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, and he has been a significant contributor to the Conformis product portfolio, including his design and development work on partial knee implants, the iTotal CR and iTotal PS knee implants, and iJig instrumentation. Mr. Wong joined Conformis in 2008 as a Senior Design Engineer, and subsequently progressed to Director and Senior Director of Product Development in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In 2015, he was promoted to VP of Engineering, with responsibility for concept development, verification testing, cadaver testing, validation (design, process, supplier, etc.), support Regulatory filings, QSR documentation, manufacturing transfer and sales/marketing support. In 2018, Mr. Wong was promoted to SVP, Strategic Operations, with his primary responsibility to align all of Conformis’ manufacturing programs, CAD operations, and other systems to ensure optimization and execution.

Prior to Conformis, Mr. Wong served as Senior Design Engineer at Innovative Spinal Technologies for one year, Product Development Engineer at Brooks Automation for five years, Senior Mechanical Engineer at BTU International for four years, and as Mechanical Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific for three years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia Engineering.

Eric Rickenbach

Senior Vice President, U.S. Sales

Mr. Rickenbach has served as our Senior Vice President, U.S. Sales since October 2019. He has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, and is well-versed in positioning total joint solutions to surgeons and hospital systems. Immediately prior to joining Conformis, Mr. Rickenbach served at Stryker for eleven years. In his most recent role as a General Manager at Stryker, he was responsible for a successful branch turnaround. Overseeing Joint Reconstruction, Trauma, and Extremities in the San Diego area, he was able to develop a branch with historical negative sales growth into the company’s fastest growing branch. Before this, he served as Stryker’s Sales Manager in Pennsylvania and then Arizona for more than six years, leading a sales force of 15 employees, and achieving significant sales growth via a combination of strategic relationships, sales skills, talent selection/development, surgeon education, patient education, practice marketing, contracting, operations, and finance. He began his tenure with Stryker as a Medical Sales Representative. Before joining Stryker, Mr. Rickenbach served as Vice President at RBach Office and School Furniture for two years, and as Vice President of Sales at Tri-R Incorporated for four years.

Mr. Rickenbach earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Parks Management at Penn State University, where he played center, guard and tackle on the Penn State varsity football team.

Gary Maingot

Senior Vice President, Operations

Mr. Maingot has served as our SVP, Operations since January 2020. He has more than 25 years of progressive experience within the medical device industry and a track record of solving complex problems in the interdependent functions of quality, engineering, operations, and supply chain.

Immediately prior to joining Conformis, Mr. Maingot served at Spinal Elements, Inc. for three years as EVP, Operations, responsible for manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, and customer service. By eliminating bottlenecks there, he achieved a significant increase in production output within six months. He also implemented a sales and operations planning process that drove backorders down and improved line fill rates.

Prior to Spinal Elements, Mr. Maingot served at Oscor, Inc. as VP of Global Operations & Supply Chain, responsible for all operations and supply chain functions. Before this, he served at Biomet, progressing to Group Vice President Operations & Supply Chain at Biomet Spine, Bone Healing, and Microfixation. With Biomet, he led the supply chain teams for three multi-site business units with more than $400 million in revenue, and developed a supply chain strategy, structure, and culture to partner with commercial functions. Mr. Maingot was also involved in ensuring the success of significant business integrations. Beginning his career at Johnson & Johnson as Quality Engineer, he also served as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, and Engineer at Boston Scientific and Medtronic.

Mr. Maingot earned an MBA degree at Babson College, an MS degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of South Florida, and a BS degree in Statistics at the University of Western Ontario. He is also a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Marc Quartulli

Vice President, Clinical Affairs & Market Access

Mr. Quartulli has served as our Vice President, Clinical Affairs & Market Access since June 2019. From April 2015 to May 2019 he was our Vice President, Clinical Affairs. From July 2011 to March 2015, he was our Senior Director, Clinical Affairs. Prior to joining us, Mr. Quartulli served as a consultant for Globus Medical from January 2011 to Jun 2011 following their acquisition of Facet Solutions, Inc., a manufacturer of spinal implants, where he had served as director of clinical affairs from March 2006 to December 2010. Prior to that, he served as a clinical manager at NDO Surgical, Inc. and as a senior clinical research associate at Boston Scientific. Mr. Quartulli has over 18 years of experience in clinical research which began at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he advanced through positions of increasing responsibility in clinical affairs roles. Mr. Quartulli has a B.S. in Biology from Siena College.

Jeff Kogl

Vice President, Business Development

Mr. Kogl has served as our Vice President, Business Development since November 2019. He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate portfolio strategy, business development, and market development. In his current role, Mr. Kogl is responsible for investor relations, and for developing and implementing the sales and marketing strategy for Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) accounts.

Prior to joining Conformis, he served as SVP, Corporate Development & Strategy for two years at Vyaire Medical, an $800 million respiratory business that was formed when Becton Dickinson sold its mechanical ventilation products, respiratory diagnostic solutions, and associated consumable products to Apax Partners. At Vyaire Medical, Mr. Kogl managed the overall strategic planning process, and led all corporate development activities, including due diligence, contract negotiations, and integration planning.

Directly prior to Vyaire Medical, Mr. Kogl served as VP, Business Development & Strategy at Entellius Medical, where he managed the company’s strategic planning process, analyzed adjacent market segments for market entry, and coordinated the company’s business development initiatives. Before this, he served as VP, Strategy & Corporate Development at Tornier, Inc, which offers products to treat orthopedic conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. There, he led the strategic planning process and served as a lead team member behind the 2015 merger with Wright Medical in 2015. Prior to Tornier, Mr. Kogl served at Medtronic, Inc. for nine years, progressing to Senior Director, Corporate Portfolio Strategy. In that role, he developed an overall assessment framework to consistently characterize the intrinsic and synergistic value of Medtronic’s portfolio of businesses. He was also responsible for the commercialization strategies for three emerging businesses, including conducting primary and second market research, establishing surgeon advisory panels, and developing early sales and distribution strategies for U.S. and Western European geographies.

Mr. Kogl earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Minnesota’s Curtis L. Carlson School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stanford University.

James Paiva

Vice President, U.S. Marketing

Mr. Paiva has served as our Vice President, U.S. Marketing since November 2021. In this position, his functional areas of responsibility include directly overseeing market expansion, product management, corporate communications, direct-to-consumer initiatives, and medical education.

Mr. Paiva brings more than 20 years of medical device experience, with 16 years spent at Johnson & Johnson. During his career there, he held a variety of marketing, education, sales support and business development roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he was the Senior Director of Marketing for DePuy Synthes, where he managed the core portfolio and pipeline for their global Spine business. In that role, he was responsible for business planning, marketing strategies, portfolio management, market research, new product launches, business performance analytics and multi-channel marketing in a $10+B market. Over his tenure at J&J, Mr. Paiva and his teams were responsible for multiple successful product and program launches, including driving a new minimally invasive portfolio to market leader position. He has a strong history of successfully implementing creative new business models and strategies for penetrating untapped or new market opportunities.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Paiva was a co-founder of the RIH Orthopaedic Foundation Test Facility. There, he spent 4 years as the project leader, and in conjunction with the Bioengineering Laboratory at Brown University performing due diligence evaluations, testing and consulting on a variety of medical devices. In this role, he was also able to co-author several manuscripts, abstracts, and test protocols, including some adopted by ASTM for regulatory guidance.

Mr. Paiva earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology/Kinematics at the University of Rhode Island and studied in the Biomaterials and Artificial Organs graduate program at Brown University.

Farzin Khaghani

Vice President, Professional Affairs

Mr. Khaghani has served as our Vice President, Professional Affairs since November 2021. Immediately prior to this, he served as our Vice President, U.S., Marketing since rejoining Conformis in June 2020. During his time away from Conformis, he served as President of NextStep Arthropedix, and as SVP Sales & Marketing at RF Technologies before that. During his original term with Conformis of more than 10 years, Mr. Khaghani progressed from Senior Director, Product Management to Area Vice President, Sales for the East Region of the U.S.

Before his initial employment at Conformis, Mr. Khaghani served as Product Director at DePuy Spine and Johnson & Johnson for 5 years, where he managed a key line and new product launches, developed marketing strategies, and worked with various promotional agencies on product branding and literature. Prior to that, he served as Director of Operations of Win Enterprises for 3 years. Before that, he served in engineering and operations management positions in the medical and high-tech fields.

Mr. Khaghani earned BS degrees in Biology and Mathematics at Cornell University; an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University; and an Executive MBA degree at Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management, with a concentration in Finance. He is also a member of the External Advisory Board for the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering at the University of Maine.

Bart Lagae

Vice President, International Marketing

Mr. Lagae has served as our Vice President, International Marketing since September 2020. Mr. Lagae is an executive with more than 30 years of experience in orthopedic sales management and global marketing, and has a track record of developing and successfully driving product pipeline and business unit growth.

Most recently, Mr. Lagae served as Senior Director, Global Marketing–Knees at Zimmer Biomet, where he worked for 5 years and managed partial, primary, and revision knee teams. He was responsible for product strategy, portfolio, positioning and the business pipeline, leading marketing activities for new product introductions. Immediately prior to Zimmer Biomet, Mr. Lagae spent more than 10 years at Biomet, where he progressed from Sales Representative to Director, Product Management Partial Knees–Global. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from ILOK-Parnas in Belgium.

Allison Baker

Director, Human Resources

Ms. Baker has served as our Director, Human Resources since October 2018. In this role, she is responsible for development of recruiting strategy, performance management goals, benefits scalability, compensation evaluation, policy guidance and other areas as required by the business. She advises functional business leaders on human resources decisions and projects that are efficient and scalable to best support the development and growth of the overall organization. Ms. Baker has more than 15 years of human resources experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and information technology industries, and she joined Conformis in 2014.

Christine Desrochers

Corporate Controller

Ms. Desrochers has served as our Corporate Controller since July 2020. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, internal controls, technical accounting, and financial reporting. She joined Conformis as Assistant Controller in 2018 with more than 15 years of accounting experience and 3 years of experience in the medical device industry. During her time with Conformis, she has worked to improve our month-end close process and to drive efficient monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
